Spirits Cape

Carla Fernández (Artist-in-Residence, 2013) is a Mexico City-based fashion label inspired by the geometrics and textile richness of Mexico. The brand has gained international acclaim for their approach to preserving the rich cultural heritage of Mexico’s indigenous communities and transforming it into beautiful clothing, textiles and housewares. Their contemporary take on handcrafted methods is proving ethical fashion can be striking, avant-garde and forward-looking.

With a structured, open silhouette, this dramatic wool cape features hand-cut leather Spirit appliqués crafted by artisans in Pahuatlán, located in the Sierra Norte of Puebla and renowned for its deep-rooted artisanal traditions. The Spirits stand out against the garment as a visual tribute to the natural and cultural richness of Pahuatlán. More than a decorative element, this application preserves a traditional cutting technique while creating a dialogue between artisanal craftsmanship and contemporary design. Each piece brings together material, time, and knowledge in a garment made to endure.

This cape stuns on both tall and petite frames. Its open design ensures a perfect fit on a range of body types. The front of the garment has two pockets.

If your ordered garment isn't to your liking, we are happy to accept returns. Please contact shipping@isgm.org to initiate a return. We will send you a pre-paid return label. Provided that the garment is returned in its original condition, we will issue a full refund.
