Dante Alighieri Ornament

Isabella Stewart Gardner was fascinated by the works of Italian poet Dante Alighieri. Her collection contains his work, including a 15th century copy of his Divine Comedy, as well as records pertaining to the Dante Society of Cambridge, MA. The Dante Society gifted Mrs. Gardner a plaster copy of Dante's death mask as a gift in 1885.

This dazzling ornament of the world renowned poet shows Dante holding one of his manuscripts.
