Native to both China and Taiwan, the Ailanthus altissima or “Tree of Heaven” produces unique, spiral seedling pods. These seedlings can be found on female trees, growing from one to two inches long, and are spread through the wind.

The tree has been grown extensively both in China and abroad as a host plant for the ailanthus silkmoth, a moth involved in silk production.

The Spiral Pod Necklace is cast in hand patinated and 24kt gold plated bronze and accented with white freshwater pearls.
