Nathaniel Hawthorne Ornament

From her collection, we can tell the Isabella Stewart Gardner was quite the Hawthorne fan! Not only does the Museum contain several of Hawthorne's books, as well as letters penned by Hawthorne, the Museum's Blue Room also contains a brass box containing a lock of Nathaniel Hawthorne's hair!


This ornament of American novelist, dark romantic and short story writer Nathaniel Hawthorne features the author dressed in his finery, holding a copy of The Scarlet Letter, written in 1850.
