Meadows Boxed Notecards

An accomplished painter of gardens and flowers, British artist Rosalind Wise is also intrigued by meadows and other wild spaces where evanescent plant communities follow nature’s lead. She writes of studying and painting a local field that “was left fallow for a few years, so it took on a wild and chaotic quality which I found interesting. It went through many color and textural changes between April and September and also during the different years. Green and purple in May and in August yellow and white. The grasses were then bleached by the sun and blown into shapes by the wind.”

Born in South Wales, Rosalind taught painting in Bristol and London before moving to Gloucestershire. Her observant eye and her love of the natural world are clearly evident in the four fresh, vibrant paintings of meadows and fields selected for this notecard assortment.
