Holidays are a special time to visit the Gardner Museum--the festive Courtyard features an awe-inspiring display of holiday colors from flowering jade trees, silver dusty miller, green aloe, and the dark red winter blooms of amaryllis.
Beyond the Courtyard, the Museum’s collection contains holiday greetings sent to Mrs. Gardner by her contemporaries as well as objects given to Mrs. Gardner by her friends as Christmas presents including the Egyptian Ushabti gifted by the painter Martin Mower (1870-1960); the two poison-tipped Pygmy arrows gifted by African explorer Arthur Jermy Mounteney Jephson (1858-1908); and the plaster cast of the hand of composer-violinist Charles Martin Loeffler (1861-1935) gifted by the musician and the inventor, Mabel Hunt Slater (1864-1942).
Gift at the Gardner has curated a holiday selection inspired by the Museum founder’s adoration of the season of gift-giving, merrymaking, and gratitude. From holiday greeting cards to sweet treats, we have gifts for everyone on your list--and, of course, for you!
