Frederick Douglass Ornament

American social reformer, abolitionist, public speaker, writer, and statesman Frederick Douglass was born into slavery, escaping in 1838. After gaining his freedom, he became the national leader of the abolitionist movement.

This ornament of Frederick Douglass shows the man himself, holding his 1835 autobiography, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave. He stands stoically, dressed in period-appropriate attire.
