Handwoven earrings made of jipijapa palm tree in the form of skeletons.
The jipi is a kind of palm that is dehydrated in an oven to later be woven. The caves in Becal, Campeche are recognized as the ideal sites for weaving. The humidity the caves maintain prevents the palm from breaking and deteriorating, allowing it to be flexible and to obtain different shapes and figures.
This technique requires an impressive memory and manual dexterity since weavers do not use patterns or guides.
