Celebrating Black History Month

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum remains committed to collaborating with artists, performers, and leaders whose perspectives are not always heard and seen in established historical institutions like ours.

To honor Black History Month, Gift at the Gardner presents this selection highlighting the histories of Black people. We’ve gathered books for all ages that celebrate the life and work of Black authors, artists, athletes, and more, as well as texts that examine the Civil War and the civil rights movement. Our collection of St. Nicolas ornaments includes black historical figures, while our Chocolate and Steele quote necklaces include words from some of the most influential black writers and activists.

Black lives matter, now and always.
