The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum remains committed to collaborating with artists, performers, and leaders whose perspectives are not always heard and seen in established historical institutions like ours. In celebration of Black History Month, Gift at the Gardner presents this selection honoring the histories of Black people. We’ve gathered books for all ages that celebrate the life and work of Black authors, artists, curators, musicians, poets, and more, and texts that examine America’s Civil Rights Movement as well as the necessary work of anti-racism. This collection highlights Salem-based jewelry maker We Dream in Colour, founded by designer Jade Gedeon.
Black lives matter, now and always.
