Josiah McElheny: The Story of Glass

Josiah McElheny creates finely crafted, handmade glass objects that he combines with photographs, text, and museological displays to evoke notions of meaning and memory.

This book, produced in conjunction with McElheny's 1999 exhibition The Story of Glass, presents a survey of his career as well as the new work he produced while an Artist-in-Residence at the Gardner. Essays by cultural historian Dave Hickey and Jennifer Gross explore the intersection of history and contemporary experience presented in McElheny's work.
